RECTIFY After 19 years on Death Row for the rape and murder of his teenage girlfriend, Daniel Holden is going home. His conviction has been vacated due to new DNA evidence. Now he has to return to a world he no longer knows and his reentry into the outside world may be as unforgiving as prison. Daniel is haunted by the past, dogged by the present, and uncertain of the future. As he struggles to adapt to his new life, his homecoming reignites the fears of a small town and threatens to shatter his family’s fragile peace. Daniel’s alleged crime divided a community. Will his freedom tear it in half?

RECTIFY: Season 1 ran for 6 episodes on the Sundance Channel in April 2013.

Season Two: The show has been renewed for a 2nd Season. 10 episodes have been ordered.

The Actors: Aden Young (Daniel), Abigail Spencer (Amantha), J. Smith-Cameron (Janet), Clayne Crawford (Ted Jr.), Adelaide Clemens (Tawney), Luke Kirby (Jon Stern)

RECTIFY was originally supposed to be an AMC show. SUNDANCE Channel, looking to jump on the television band wagon, ordered the series for 6 episodes, making RECTIFY its first original scripted show. Since season one has already aired, you can go ON DEMAND, under TV Series by NETWORK, search for SUNDANCE, and view all 6 episodes of Season 1 there.

If you do not have the On Demand feature or the SUNDANCE Channel, no need to panic. You can own RECTIFY: Season 1 DVD boxset on June 18th. Pre-order it HERE.

Ray McKinnon is mostly known as an actor, an underrated one at that! He's been in such shows as HBO's DEADWOOD and most recently FX's SONS OF ANARCHY. A man of a million faces, he can play just about anything and quite often I've been in the middle of watching a movie and suddenly that distinctive face and voice appears and I am like, "Oh WOW! I didn't know he was going to be in this!" RECTIFY is not Ray's first creation-- he actually won an Academy Award for writing and directing a 2001 short The Accountant!

RECTIFY is one of those shows that consumes you, that when an episode ends, you need to put the next one on to see what happens. I've only had that happen with a few shows, PRISON BREAK and SONS OF ANARCHY to name a couple. The acting talent is absolutely outstanding, with many faces that seem familiar but not so popular that it turns into an distraction (many times I've skipped over or watched a show solely because of an actor/actress alone). But my new obsession is Aden Young who plays the tormented Daniel. I am still blown away by his performance. Those sad, expressive eyes, that deep, soft southern drawl. Where the hell did this guy come from??? And let's not forget the story. Ray McKinnon has truly outdone himself. Many people, including myself, may think at first that the premise of this series can only work as a miniseries or one season tops. But somehow Ray weaves a story that most definitely can go on for at least another 2 or 3 seasons. Everything about this show blew me away. The acting, the story, the music-- I was an emotional mess by the end of episode 6 and days later I am still thinking about RECTIFY. If you want to watch something that is thought provoking, well acted, and addictive, give this show a try. You won't be disappointed!
