Giveaway Winner & My Picks of the Week! (June 5th)

Good Monday, my Muses!

The first order of business is announcing the winner for my "200 Follower Giveaway: The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda ARC Paperback Copy" which ended on Saturday, June 2nd. And the winner is....

ANDREA SMITH!!!

Congrats! I want to thank everyone who entered the giveaway. And if you entered the giveaway and also have a blog, I am still making my rounds to everyone's blog to follow you as well! I think for my next one I will be looking into using something like "rafflecopter". Now that I am getting more people entering my giveaways, I rather use a program that picks a person by random then me have to go through and pick someone. I hate having to do it myself because I always feel bad about the others who took time to enter! I wish I had a copy to give away to everyone! Then again, that would defeat the purpose, right?

Okay, now to "My Picks of the Week". If you haven't already noticed, June 5th is a HUGE date for releases. In Adult Books, there are many sequels and continuations to series being released, such as All That Falls (Etherlin, #2) by Kimberly Frost, Chaos Burning (Bound by Magick, #2) by Lauren Dane, and Messenger's Angel (Lost Angels, #2) by Heather Killough-Walden.

In Young Adult Books, I started the list with the few novels that had a release date of June 1st. One June 1st release that looks interesting is Devine Intervention by Martha Brockenbrough. I also am looking forward to reading Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne and Shadows Cast by Stars by Catherine Knutsson.

There are some really good movies coming out tomorrow. If you like action movies, then you will probably want to check out Act of Valor which starred real Navy Seals and Safe House, starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. If you are looking for something to keep the kids entertained then Journey 2 starring "The Rock" and Disney's John Carter will probably do the trick.

The movies this week that come in blu-ray/dvd combo packs are: Act of Valor, Journey 2, John Carter, Machine Gun Preacher, and Safe House.

If you are a fan of shows, then you will be in TV Series Heaven this week! Pretty Little Liars: Season 2, Breaking Bad: Season 4, Falling Skies: Season 1, and White Collar: Season 3 are just a few of the many being released tomorrow.

Enjoy all the great new releases this week!

In an instant, the stable life Swift has built for himself hangs on finding the boy and convincing him to give himself up before Max figures out Swift’s involvement in the case.

YOUNG ADULT

Devine Intervention
by: Martha Brockenbrough

There is a great legend of the guardian angel who traveled across time and space for the human girl he loved, slaying those who would threaten her with a gleaming sword made of heavenly light.

This is not that story.

Jerome Hancock is Heidi Devine's guardian angel. Sort of. He's more of an angel trainee, in heaven's soul-rehabilitation program for wayward teens. And he's just about to get kicked out for having too many absences and for violating too many of the Ten Commandments for the Dead.

Heidi, meanwhile, is a high school junior who dreams of being an artist, but has been drafted onto her basketball team because she's taller than many a grown man. For as long as she can remember, she's heard a voice in her head - one that sings Lynyrd Skynyrd, offers up bad advice, and yet is company during those hours she feels most alone.

When the unthinkable happens, these two lost souls must figure out where they went wrong and whether they can make things right before Heidi's time is up and her soul is lost forever.

Martha Brockenbrough's debut novel is hilarious, heartbreaking, and hopeful, with a sense of humor that's wicked as hell, and writing that's just heavenly.

Curb Your Enthusiasm:
Season 8

Starring: Larry David, Cheryl Hines

Candid, unsparing and self-deprecating, Curb Your Enthusiasm is driven by the off-kilter comic vision of Larry David, co-creator and co-executive producer of another lauded comedy series, Seinfeld. David’s HBO series blurs the lines between reality and fiction, as he and a cast of real and fictional characters are followed by a ubiquitous camera that chronicles the private, often banal world of a (relatively) public man. The series proves how seemingly trivial details of one’s day-to-day life – a trip to the grocery store, a remark at a dinner party, a fender-bender – can precipitate a “Murphy’s Law” chain of misfortune to hilarious effect. To keep the narrative spontaneous, Curb is shot without a script; cast members are given scene outlines and often improvise lines as they go.

I've heard good things about Rafflecopter, so I hope you're able to give that a try for your next give-away.
